Mission Statement:

To ensure compliance and conformance with internal and external regulations and standards by formulating, implementing and maintaining integrated Health, safety and environment managements systems to fulfill company objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise management regarding compliance with applicable safety & health regulations, including potential changes in regulations.
  • Plan, develop and maintain government required safety and health records and programs, including written procedures, training, and periodic evaluation of the programs.
  • Serve as Safety Officer for all plant shutdowns, including planning, developing and administering specific programs to minimize employee injury during this higher risk period. Such specific programs may include, but shall not be limited to lockout/tagout, hot work permit, confined space entry, hazard communications and contractor safety.
  • Establish and administer safety committees and plant inspections.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular safety meetings and training, including a manager’s safety meeting.
  • Plan, develop and administer a contractor safety program, a visitor safety program and new employee safety orientations.
  • Review all EHS related procedures for accuracy and effectiveness and update if necessary.
  • Perform all DNR water and air quality testing, in conjunction with the Operations team.
  • Periodically audit and evaluate the plant personnel behaviors and practices to make sure procedures are being followed and QCCP is in compliance to all government and non-government regulations.
  • Carry out proper safety and health practices to protect and to minimize adverse effects on all personnel and assets.
  • Carry out a socially responsible and positive company image by establishing mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, vendors, private organizations, agencies and institutions, at the federal, state and local level.
  • All other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the COO.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and permits under OSHA (including PSM), EPA, DNR, TTB, FRA and any other non-financial regulating body.
  • Ensures all plant modifications receive appropriate permitting approval in timely manner to support construction schedule and all plant/system changes are managed through plant Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
  • Ensures systems are in place to provide complete compliance with all regulations.
  • Ensures training systems provide proper platform to promote ever increasing standards for safe work execution.
  • Ensures all required compliance audits are performed, gaps are communicated and deficiency plans are developed and implemented.
  • Writes monthly reports on accomplishments, gaps and improvement plan progress.

Essential Job Functions

  • Review, update and maintain environmental programs
  • Review, update and maintain safety programs
  • Provide/develop training for all employees on EHS related items
  • Review, update and maintain companywide EHS programs
  • Create and/or review required management and governmental reports.

Education: A minimum of High School, preferably a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years in the Ethanol Manufacturing field in similar position responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
