Geosyntec is growing in the Gulf Coast region and we are looking for Environmental Engineers or Scientists for our Environmental Permitting and Planning Practice in the Houston or Austin, Texas or Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Louisiana office, who loves helping plan and permit complex development projects to achieve energy transition and decarbonization goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide planning and permitting services for greenfield or brownfield facility developments and pipelines in the Energy and Low-carbon markets.
  • Lead tasks for siting and feasibility studies, due diligence, impact assessment, environmental justice (EJ) screenings, permit application preparation, and permit matrix development.
  • Collect project-related data as needed, which may include research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use surveys, regulatory database searches, and socioeconomic analysis.
  • Prepare required documents such as permit applications, planning studies, impact assessments and other technical reports or agency correspondence.
  • Assist in preparation for and participate in public information meetings and hearings.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 25%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 25%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, urban planning, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • An outstanding track record for client management, project/task management, and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Supporting multiple projects and meet high quality standards on project deliverables.
  • An outstanding track record for client satisfaction and technical leadership, especially on capital project developments. (preferred)
  • Project planning, scheduling, and coordination of small to moderately scoped projects or tasks. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting environmental justice (EJ) screenings and socioeconomic reviews. (preferred)
  • Ability to analyze and plan out permitting milestones and studies to support project developments.
  • Experience engaging with regulators and project stakeholders on demanding projects. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
