POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides overall facility cleanliness, including cleaning and disinfecting locker rooms, bathrooms, offices, child care rooms, group exercise studios, gymnasium, café, etc. while following safety precautions.
    • Replace & refill toilet tissue, paper towels, soap/hand sanitizer dispensers.
    • Wash various types of windows.
    • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors daily using approved equipment and solution.
    • Clean & maintain furniture and carpet by dusting, shampooing, polishing, etc.
    • Clean toilets & urinals using correct procedures & cleaning agents.
    • Remove all waste from the facility, including regular waste and recyclable materials.
    • Notify supervisor of any equipment or facilities needing repair or replacement so corrective action can be taken.
  • Ensures that all areas of the building are maintained on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis by following the facility checklist.
  • Completes daily responsibilities and projects in a timely manner.
  • May work with outside agencies such as fire, health, building department, FSSA, etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Notifies supervisor when supplies are getting low
  • Develops relationships with members.
  • Ensures that members and guest are following the outlined policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning techniques & safety protocols. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas are a plus.
  • Time management & project management skills.
  • Familiarity with personal computers helpful.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period of time, climb ladders, walk, shovel snow, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity.
  • The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

Saturday and Sunday
