Job Description:

Environmental Field Technician

Parsons is adding to our Denver based environmental restoration team! We are hiring an environmental field technician to be based out of the Denver, Colorado office with a desire to support various projects across the country with field investigations, sampling events, remediation activities, as well as equipment maintenance.

We need our field technicians to be versatile and enthusiastic about working in highly flexible team-oriented environments. Our team members are required to have exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills and a strong interest in supporting the team and developing their skill sets. We will provide the ideal candidate a collaborative environment with opportunities for learning and expanding knowledge and skills.

Work assignments may be in the office and/or at field sites but the candidate should expect to spend the first two to three years of their career at Parsons at field sites. A willingness to extensively travel is expected. Only local candidates will be considered for this position or candidates willing to relocate for this opportunity. 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collection of environmental samples of differing media using multiple sampling techniques and field equipment

  • Operate, maintain, repair, and calibrate field meters and sampling equipment

  • Develop newly installed monitoring wells

  • Prepare samples for shipment, complete chain-of-custody documentation, and send samples to a laboratory for analysis

  • Operate and properly maintain trucks, ATVs, pumps, air compressors, generators, GPS equipment, and other field equipment

  • Maintaining detailed and accurate field documentation in record logs and/or field tablets

  • Assists in preparing field and office reports of various activities and findings

  • Assists in the analysis of field data

Successful candidate shall have the following competencies:

  • Able to handle the remoteness of sites and limited personal interactions during workday

  • Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities, and organization needs

Successful candidate shall meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug, and background test

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean DMV record and the ability to clear MVR check

  • Must be able to work full time with occasional overtime or weekend / night work

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds multiple times per day

  • Adherence to a strong safety culture including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment

  • Mechanically inclined with experience operating and troubleshooting tools and equipment

  • Must be flexible with respect to work tasks and the ability to work with diverse people and skill sets, ability to work with others in a professional team environment, as well as independently when required

  • Must have outdoor work experience and be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in a wide range of temperatures

  • Willingness to travel extensively to job sites and supporting projects all over the country

  • Completion of 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training course (with an annual 8-hour refresher course) is required for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations, but we will provide the right candidate with 8-hour refresher if required

Additional requirements (strongly preferred but not required)

  • Preference will be given to candidates with valid and current 40-hour HAZWOPER training

  • Knowledgeable in the operation, use, and maintenance of field equipment such as water-level meters, interface probes, flow cell meters, pumps, photo ionization detectors (PID), generators, air compressors, etc. highly desired

  • Familiarity with fundamental tasks and sampling techniques related to environmental remediation systems and sampling techniques

  • Has at least 1-2 years of groundwater sampling experience and experience with various USEPA approved monitoring well sampling procedures.

  • Knowledge of computers and standard software packages (MS Excel and Word)

Parsons offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, a benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, and paid time off, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and 401k match.

The anticipated annualized full time target compensation range for this position is: $50,000 to $65,000 depending on previous experience.

Salary Range:

$20.38 - $35.67
