POSITION SUMMARY:
The Equity and Belonging Director is responsible for enhancing current DEI initiatives and developing new initiatives that further our goal of being an anti-racist and inclusive organization. This position must expand YSHR reach into marginalized communities and work specifically to create health equity. This is a 1 year grant funded role that could be renewed for 2024.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Direct, implement, promote and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA healthy initiatives objectives.
  • Provide support and guidance to Center staff to ensure the programs achieve quality performance outcomes.
  • Perform ongoing reporting activities, including audits on an annual basis and as needed per grant guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with public health communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of programs and increase referrals.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public and members regarding programs and details.
  • Grow Health Equity Campuses (HEC) concept to several more YMCA’s.
  • Enhance current HEC’s with more programming to support future offerings.
  • Assist with retention and commitment of program participants.
  • Compile program statistics. Regularly analyze data to ensure it meets quality performance standards.
  • Coordinate association-wide Welcome Week and Employee Resource Group initiatives.
  • Attend programming to monitor success.
  • Attend required risk management training.
  • Attend Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) weekly meetings.
  • Communicate successes and challenges.
  • Lead DEI trainings for all locations in partnership with the VP of Equity & Belonging.
  • Promote suggestions for holiday celebrations in all locations.
  • Publish quarterly DEI newsletter.
  • Support all HEC Y’s with Nourishing our Neighbors Food Pantries.
  • Provide minutes for all Mission Advancement meetings.
  • Attend occasional weekend community events

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum 1-3 years’ experience in community building/non-profit programming development or execution.
  • Knowledge and experience in YMCA programs, preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Understands the YMCA Mission and purpose as a cause-driven movement.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the areas of staff development, relationship building skills, communication skills, conflict resolution, and resource development.
  • Experience training and leading others.
  • Some College/Associate's Degree

  • Maintain continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Must be able to lift, pull and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause-driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties.
