Responsibilities

Job Summary

As an Emergency Room Technician, you will delivery patient care and perform clinical procedures within the scope of your licensure under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and Provider. Your day-to-day job functions will include:
  • Assisting with observation of patients, gathering data and identifying patient care needs
  • Responding to emergency situations
  • Assisting with patient transport and transfer
  • Assisting with cleaning, stocking and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
  • Adhering to safety and risk management standards
  • Assisting with clerical and communication tasks to support patient care

Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of one of the following:
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program OR
    • Medical Assistant program OR
    • Certified Nursing Assistant program OR
    • Licensed Practical Nurse program OR
    • Completion of one year of nursing school
License/Certification
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA.), OR
  • Current Registered Nursing Assistant (RNA.) either recorded by the state as received and in processing, or completed; OR
  • Current Medical Assistant-Cert (CMA); OR
  • Current Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R); OR
  • Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) OR
  • Current Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
    • Note: A hospital may elect to limit acceptable certifications to Current Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) and Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P).
    • The forms required to initiate the Washington State Medical Assistant-P and/or Medical Assistant-R application process must be submitted to the Department of Health within 90 days of employment in the position, as evidenced by a proof of payment receipt.
    • Certification must be received with 150 days of date of hire in the position.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider BLS certification
