Job Summary

Assist in estimating small to large-scale projects that will contribute to the company’s growth and profitability while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external customers while researching future bids and customers.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs quantity take-offs, as requested.
  • Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects.
  • Partner with Account Manager to gather necessary information to bid or quote.
  • Communicates with customer or agencies to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications.
  • Assist in the internal estimate review process.
  • In conjunction with Inside Sales, gather data for low bidder and cost review
  • Work closely with Inside Sales to satisfy customer requests
  • Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed.
  • Coordinates information and documents to subcontractors/vendors/agencies/customer.
  • Builds relationships with customers to obtain a competitive advantage for TMI.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal TMI clients.
  • Review due date feasibility and/or discuss a date of completion with the client
  • Review bid documents and prepare appropriate qualifications
  • Evaluate accuracy of product quotes
  • Develop product knowledge and ability to compare TC products from different manufacturers
  • Prepare reports: Weekly and Monthly or as required
  • Organize project files once they have been submitted to the customer
  • Present closed projects to the project management team and transition all relevant paper work and information to the project manager, as directed by Lead Estimator

Key Performance Expectations:

  • Capture Ratio to new customers
  • Capture Ratio to account manager submittals
  • Profitability of projects to estimate
  • Number of projects submitted monthly to average project size
  • Number of RFQ’s to Estimates

Required Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of construction documentation and pricing; able to read plans and specifications and translating them into estimates
  • Working knowledge of MS Office

Equipment Operated:

  • Vehicles (Trucks/Cars) of various sizes
  • Trailer mounted warning signs
  • Cones, delineators, drums, barricades, signs and various other traffic control devices
  • Trailer

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Requires remaining in the seated position for prolonged periods of time
  • Requires lifting up 50lb
  • Requires using hands to handle, control or lift objects
  • Requires being outside and exposed to environmental conditions
  • Requires being in construction environment
  • Requires repetitive movement
  • Exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment and moving vehicular traffic
  • Exposure to reasonable noise levels
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma / Graduate
  • Preferred candidate will have:
  • Minimum 1 years of related experience in construction industry
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
