Job Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional guest service during all events held at Fort Smith Convention Center
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, room set-up, ticket scanning, security screening, assisting with guest questions, responding to incidents inside the venue or on the property, directing guests around the venue, etc.
  • Ensure all guests are following the rules and regulations of Fort Smith Convention Center and the event
  • Collaboration and team player mindset
  • Monitor and report any potential unsafe situations to management
  • Foster a positive and enjoyable environment for all guests attending an event
  • Find opportunities to improve the guest experience
  • Utilize problem solving skills and ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactively engage guests to answer questions, communicate security requirements, and ensure an enjoyable experience while they are in the arena
  • Monitor your assigned areas to ensure all security requirements and complex rules are being followed
Requirements:

Must be able and willing to:

  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • Compliance with venue safety and dress requirements
  • Stand and walk for four to six hours at a time
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays when required
  • Read, speak and understand English (ability to speak multiple languages a plus, but not required)
  • Work in a variety of different environments, indoors and outdoors, which may contain loud noise, bright lights, and ranging temperatures
  • Work inconsistent and variable hours depending on event schedule

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via radio/walkie, telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. As business or emergency situations require, employee may sporadically assist in lift/move 100 lbs.
