POSITION DESCRIPTION
Events and Education Assistant
Great River Arts seeks a creative, detail-oriented, and self-sufficient individual for the position of Events and Education Assistant at the GRA center, located at 122 First St. SE, in the historic district of downtown Little Falls.
Great River Arts (GRA) is a nonprofit, member-based organization, governed by a volunteer board that provides multidisciplinary art experiences in greater Minnesota. The administrative and financial assistant supports reports to the executive director. This position is responsible for handling event and education tasks in conjunction with GRA staff and board.
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Volunteers
Hours & Salary: 15-25/wk. Tuesday- Saturday. Schedule is dependent on GRA events and programs. Possibility for additional hours. May be required to work nights and weekends based on Great River Arts event schedule. $15/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year experience working in teaching, special events, or a customer service-related field.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in art, art education, marketing and communications or a related field, or a relevant combination of education and/or experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Assistant (35%): Includes set up and take down of events. Operates events (public and private) and organizes with outside groups for event logistics. Registers participants for events and answers related inquiries.
Education Assistant (30%): Develops and teaches at least two classes a month (at least 1 for children). Registers participants for classes. Assists outside teaching artists with logistics and set up/take down.
Representative of GRA (15%): Attends the front-of-the-house tasks, which includes working the front desk, greeting guests and answering event inquiries and requests in-person, by email or by phone. Works with the director to confirm GRA availability and organize events. The Events and Education Assistant participates in internal and external meetings to market the GRA space as a community, public and private venue.
Communications and Social Media (15%): Works with executive director to create content for the newspaper, GRA website, social media, e-newsletter, and other mediums as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the GRA director and board (5%).

Has a creative eye for space planning and design.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents.

On-time and dependable.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
1. Ability to teach art classes for adults and children.
2. Knowledge of art and a variety of art techniques.
3. Knowledge of social media including facebook.
4. Ability to use standard office equipment and Microsoft products.
CERTIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
May be required to travel, valid driver’s license required.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
3. Ability to climb ladders.
