Job Summary:
To provide outstanding customer service for internal, external and community clients of UTEC events. The role will include day-of coordination between clients, UTEC departments, and external service providers. Event rentals at UTEC may include: weddings, private parties, nonprofit and corporate functions, performances, meetings, and more. As needed, the person in this role will manage inbound inquiries and sales with tasks to include giving tours, writing proposals and contracts, and some pre-event coordination and communication.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Onsite supervision of event staff
- Scheduling staff necessary to execute events
- Supervise operations of meetings and events including setup and break down
- Provide outstanding communication and customer service to UTEC clients and guests
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to execute events
- Training and supervision of events staff as needed
- Business development including tours and inbound inquiry responses
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Event or catering experience, ideally in a leadership or supervisory role
- Flexible schedule with consistent night and weekend availability
- Ability to balance friendly customer service prioritizing adherence to venue rules
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations is a plus
- Ability to stay calm, keep renters calm, and resolve operational challenges as needed
- Ability to transition between periods of downtime and periods of busy work easily
- Able to perform light manual labor: stacking chairs, moving tables, etc.
- Must have their own transportation (hours are often beyond those of public transportation)
- Youth Work experience would be favorably considered
Education and Experience:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent preferred
- eTips certification required
- Choke Saver / CPR certifications preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods
- Intermittent bending, stooping, squatting and lifting
- Physical tolerance of different temperatures and humidity levels
- Understanding of potential exposure to food allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, soy, fish, shellfish, wheat, eggs, milk)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull weights of up to 50 pounds

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
