Ashwill Companies, an Excavation Contractor, has an immediate Full-Time opening for an experienced Estimator/Project Manager.

The Estimator is responsible for developing and reviewing estimates on public works and heavy civil projects. This position will manage the estimating of excavation projects, from initial bid documents to take-offs and complete estimate development. The ideal Estimator will be well- versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate with multiple vendors and subcontractors of different disciplines to achieve the best preconstruction pricing solutions.

Seeking an Estimator/Project Manager with the Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Estimate and Manage a variety of Highway Heavy Construction Projects
• Schedule and order all materials for Projects
• Prepare bids and cost estimates that cover every aspect of projects
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, owners, contractors and suppliers
• Review and analyze job costs throughout all projects
• Communicate all job activity, project schedules, material deliveries with Job

Supervisor/Superintendent

• Compiling, coordinating and submitting all drawings and product submittals
• Review and approve all invoices, PO’s, contracts and change orders
• Attend company meetings and speak to job progress/costs
• Site visits to examine projects, gather information and assess scope of work
• Work closely with owners to achieve project goals during contracting phase
• Able to interpret plans and specifications, perform takeoffs, develop estimates ranging from conceptual level to detailed lump sum estimates across various disciplines, evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Send requests for quotes to subcontractor and material suppliers
• Evaluation of material/subcontract cost estimates and proposals
• Develops and maintains resource information on vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

Candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Experience in excavation/demolition/utility industry
• Ability to read plans and specs
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Superior communication and project management skills
• Understands all aspects of estimating, including take-offs, unit pricing, buy-outs, and preparing scopes and bid
• Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities
• Ability to work in a team environment and fit in with company culture and processes
• Ability to professionally operate in a fast-paced environment maintained by a company in a positive, controlled growth mode
• Proficiency in estimating software, HCSS / Heavy Bid preferred
