EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR St Louis Rockets Ice Hockey

Role: Serve as the Leader of the organization, promote “hockey for everyone”, and align Rockets on and off-ice programs with the needs of our membership. Create value-added offerings to drive revenue with goal of adding new members and retaining existing membership. Set an expectation with DOH and Assistant DOH to promote skill development of players, professional growth of coaches and a provide parents with a greater understanding of hockey/program-based fundamentals. Reports to Rockets Board of Directors.

Full time salaried position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the DOH and Assistant DOH to perform their respective duties. Evaluate their performance and coach/consult with them as necessary. Perform annual reviews for each and provide Board an update 30 days before each review date.
  • Manage and maintain positive ice rink relations/communication with Webster Groves, Creve Coeur, Brentwood, Florissant, and South County rink managers.
  • Secure an adequate amount of ice to meet the on-ice programming needs as defined by DOH and Assistant DOH. Schedule an adequate amount of ice for each Rockets team.
  • Field calls and emails from membership and provide a timely response.
  • Own communication to membership on notifications, updates, new on and off-ice programming, and special events.
  • Conduct surveys to determine membership satisfaction with on and off-ice programming.
  • Build registrations for on and off-ice programming.
  • Own the Team Manager training and serve as the organizational liaison for new Team Managers.
  • Support the GM’s, DOH, and Assistant DOH during evaluations with a table during evaluations, bib numbers, safety pins, etc.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for processes where SOP’s do not exist.
  • Document offenders to the Organizational code of conduct Committee. Create and maintain files by individual.
  • Own new family communication.
  • Work with Treasurer to budget Rockets on and off-ice programming projected revenues and costs.
  • Plan, organize, and communicate Fundraising activities on behalf of the club.
  • Operate as the Off-ice training facility point of contact. Collect, organize, and work with the Treasurer on timely review of invoice and bills.
  • Work with the Board in the construction of committees and participants to provide additional help in specialized areas – i.e., goaltending.
  • Attend Rockets Board meetings.
  • Perform other such duties and tasks as assigned.

Professional and Personal Skills:

  • Director must be a high-energy, people person with the ability to operate as the face of the organization in person, over the phone, and through electronic (email and text) communication.
  • Available to support the organization at various times of the day, including weekends.
  • Ability to delegate duties for support in specialized areas with assigned Board Committee members.
  • Ability to delegate duties to the DOH and Assistant DOH as needed to work with Board Committee members.

Certifications:

  • Background Check/Safesport Certification.
  • Attend annual Hockey Development Seminars/Clinics.

The St. Louis Rockets Hockey Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are a fully-sanctioned member of USA Hockey, and we rely on the collaborative efforts of many people who volunteer their efforts in providing a forum for youth ice hockey. While our players have a wide range of skill levels, they are all committed to the sport and display an intense desire to improve as athletes and individuals.

Our programs stress sportsmanship, friendship, goodwill, and strong values. Our players go on to play high school hockey, win state championships and earn collegiate scholarship opportunities, but all of our players take away lifetime skills, team concepts and relationships that will benefit them both on and off the ice.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,000.00 - $103,000.00 per year
