Kensington Senior Living is seeking an Executive Director to Lead with Love at our New Assisted Living and Memory Care Community located in the DC Metro area.

Summary:

The Executive Director is the top leadership position within the senior living community and is responsible for the well-being of residents and team members, efficient operations, adherence to regulatory requirements, positive community and owner relations, and achievement of financial and other business results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates an environment that focuses on the well-being of residents, professional development of team members, continuous improvement of business processes, and achievement of excellent business results.
  • Establishes and communicates long range and short-range community specific business goals in alignment with overall company direction.
  • Implements and interprets policies, rules, and regulations affecting all Community activities and all personnel.
  • Establishes procedures for systematic performance of Community functions and services. Coordinates departmental activities within the Community and works cooperatively with agencies and activities within the local community.
  • Counsels, monitors, and directs the department head team to ensure proper implementation of policies and objectives on a regular basis.
  • Establishes fee schedules and operating budgets and manages expenses in order to create a sound financial structure. Maintains accurate records of Community finances and supervises disbursement and accounting for all funds.
  • Formulates and implements sound personnel policies and practices. The Executive Director approves the hiring and discharge of all team members of the community.
  • Establishes productive working relationships with health care agencies and other community-based organizations. Actively participates in professional organizations to remain current on the state of total care and assisted living administration.
  • Establishes a loss prevention approach that ensures the safety of residents and team members and the protection of the Community assets.
  • Prepares periodic business and financial reports to Owner, Kensington Senior Living, LLC, and other bodies as required.
  • Attends continuing education courses and training classes, and participates in other professional development activities as required by state regulations and the company.

  • Must possess the proven ability to lead and motivate team members
  • Must have excellent verbal skills and communication abilities and possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, department directors, and the general public
  • Ability to create and work effectively within a team based environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the principles of management and supervision, budgeting and accounting
  • Ability to effectively analyze problems and identify/implement effective, practical solutions.
  • Computer skills and basic information technology knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to clearly and proficiently communicate with people of all ages and abilities, displaying consideration of their rights and sensitivities, while maintaining an energetic, positive attitude.
  • Must be able to read and write English, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance and follow the dress code as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Be in good health, and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrates freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis by a health screening performed by a physician not more than (6) months prior to or (7) days after employment
  • Must be cleared in a criminal background check administered in the state of Maryland.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position in high end, high acuity assisted living community. Experience with memory care residents and programming required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; a degree in health care or business administration is preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable of Maryland state regulations of assisted living residences.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, family members, physicians, department directors, governmental agencies/personnel, and support agencies.
