Job description

The Head Saw Operator shall work to ensure actions reflect the company culture, work meets or exceeds company standards, values and working environment and actions reflect that as outlined by the Sawmill Manager and will support the execution of the safety mission at Kennebec Lumber Company. The Head Saw Operator is responsible for the proper sawing of the logs using the carriage and double cut band saw. Previous headsaw operating experience is required for this position.
Responsibilities:

• Load and position logs on the carriage as quickly and safely as possible. When sawing is complete, unload the remaining block as promptly as possible.
• Choose the position of the faces by rotating the log to minimize the effect of the defects.
• Adjust the log taper, if needed to maximize the value of the lumber being sawn.
• Place logs on the carriage to maximize the support from all of the knees and to maximize the holding ability of the dogging system.
• Follow all change over and end of day procedures.
• Utilize Lewis Controls Computer System.
• Must be Lock out Tag out trained.
• Perform daily cleaning and lubrication of carriage system.
• Sharpen and Change Saw as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned

6:00 am- 4:30 pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
