Extrusion Technician II - 2nd Shift

PURPOSE:

Manage Process Change required to meet customer requirements using demonstrated problem-solving techniques, basic data analysis, and tool modifications when required. Lead the development of backup tooling and coordinated technical work required for manufacturing projects. Conduct training for extruder operators on proper operation of equipment and maintenance of extrusion tooling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate cross-functional work on backup tooling projects with quality, engineering, and operations.
  • Take corrective action on new and modified tooling that deviate from customer requirements. Correct issues and minimize downtime & scrap by ensuring proper resources are directed at the issue until it is resolved, and all parties are satisfied
  • Participate in engineering/operations projects as needed to ensure all design and scope criteria are met. Actively participate in events involving multiple concurrent and sequential development activities.
  • Use root cause analysis and other appropriate techniques to analyze and recommend improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, and performance. Evaluate impact of proposed changes on tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Proactively identify potential downtime, scrap or reliability issues and recommend corrective actions to operations and engineering.
  • Continuously drive standardization of processes and methods. Understand all required department documentation standards and their impact on the extrusion process. Ensure that documentation is properly completed, reviewed, and approved. This person is directly responsible to communicate to engineering, quality, and operations.
  • Experienced in all machining/welding methods required to develop and maintain extrusion tooling. Mentor less experienced technicians in proper methods for making tooling modifications. Understand the terminology and science of Polymer flow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year degree in Technology program with 2-5 years of experience in related field; OR High School Diploma or equivalent with 5-10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Machining / Welding, Tool & Die training or experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Experience using data interpretation, trend analysis, etc.
  • Experience with CAD, PC and software applications.
