DescriptionLife University is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to serve as the Fitness Center Facilities Manager. The Fitness Center Facilities Manager is a full-time professional staff member reporting to the Director of Engagement and Leadership. The facilities manager is tasked with contributing to and the maintaining of the Life University Fitness Center and associated fitness programs to cultivate a vibrant and active campus community that is in alignment with the Vitialistic mission and values of Life University.
Responsibilities
The facilities manager provides the daily supervision, management, maintenance requests, and supervision of all fitness center related programs, equipment, staff, fitness classes, and personal training programs. The facilities manager leads, hires, manages, supervises, and evaluates student employee staff, staff schedules, group fitness classes, personal training services, and works in coordination with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation to develop and sponsor wellness programs and special events. The facilities manager works with the director to implement the mission, vision, and goals of this department, collect data, and engage in on-going assessment to improve, expand, and develop student centered services to promote the holistic growth, development, and well-being of the Life University campus community
Essential Job Functions
1. Provide leadership and management to the day-to-day operations and management of the Fitness Center to ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment through execution of maintenance contracts and service calls, manages facility spaces, and resources to provide a quality experience for all patrons and users
2. Manges facility equipment inventory, purchases, cleaning supplies, and coordination of campus maintenance requests and emergency service repairs and requests
3. Coordinates management of member management software platform to maintain accurate patron records, usage, evaluations, and patron purchases
4. Coordinates policy development, edits, and additions. Implements training to maintain proper protocols, operations, and expectations in alignment with industry best practices and NIRSA standards
5. Enforces facility policies and user expectations, manages conflicts, manages patron issues, complaints, and challenges
6. Manage allocated funding to support facility. Provide budgetary input in assessing area needs
7. Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate facility staff, group fitness instructors, and personal trainers
8. Work evening/weekend hours and/or modified work week schedule as needed to maintain adequate program coverage
9. Provide on-call availability to give assistance in the event of campus emergency, staff shortage, facility emergency, or other unexpected situations in which professional staff assistance is required
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Psychology, Management, or Education.
2. Two+ Years previous experience working in Fitness, Campus Recreation and Wellness, or associated industry.
3. Supervisory skills in Student Services, Student Affairs, University setting or related work environment.
4. Demonstrated skill in multi-tasking, organization, and planning.
5. Demonstrated experience in fiscal management.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated successful record of working with a diverse student, faculty, and staff community.
8. Commitment to the wellness model of health.
9. Knowledge of risk management and liability issues affecting recreational events and activities and fitness focused services.
10. Participation in professional associations related to the field, high ethical standards.
Preferred Educational and Certification Requirements.
1. Four+ Years previous experience working in Fitness, Campus Recreation and Wellness, or associated industry and Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, Psychology, Management Kinesiology or Education.
2. Personal Training Certification from a national accrediting agency.
3. Group Fitness Instruction experience.
