Summary/Objective

The Hospital Custodian/Handyman is responsible for the daily upkeep and care of the veterinary hospital. You will provide for the constant cleanliness of the hospital and grounds as well as all patient wards, cages, and runs. The Hospital Custodians are responsible for the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the veterinary hospital and other duties as directed. You will be responsible for light maintenance and other general tasks.

Essential Functions

• Participates as a highly functioning Hospital Custodian

• General cleaning of hospital along with laundry duties to ensure hospital is odor free and presents an attractive and professional environment

• Maintains cleanliness of the hospital grounds and parking lot

• Maintain laundry throughout shifts. Washing, drying, folding and storing as needed

• Maintains and stocks inventory as needed and directed by the Inventory Manager

• Performs light maintenance as needed, alerts leadership when repairs are needed

• Runs errands for the hospital as needed and directed by leadership

• Performs miscellaneous tasks as needed and as directed by leadership

• Maintains a professional, cheerful, and helpful attitude

Work Environment

This job operates in a veterinary hospital setting. Normal vocation environment risks associated in this setting as related to treatment of and exposure to clientele, patients, and health hazards related to disease and specialty care.

Physical Demands

This position will require at least 8 hours of walking/standing/crouching/bending, lifting/ pushing/pulling between 1-50lbs, and sedentary work/sitting for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with varying schedules to include evenings, weekends, and holidays required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour work week however, work volume or deadlines may often require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this position. There will be an introductory period of two months (60 days).

Required Education and Experience

• Ability to learn cleaning and disinfecting methods for the hospital
• Familiar with basic animal care and handling
