Job description
This classification provides janitorial support for the Southwest Arts Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent most of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Assures buildings are properly locked and secured by setting alarms after events have ended and the campus is clear of patrons and staff (including locking front entrance gates).- Assists in setting up for programs, inside and outside of buildings, and cleans after programs are completed.
- Request supplies and maintains inventory.
- Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors; cleans and disinfects all restrooms, sinks, and water fountains; empties trash, cleans offices and kitchens.
- Cleans furniture, glass, and mirrors; cleans surrounding areas of the facility including parking lots; sweeps entrance ramps and porches; reports repairs to facility supervisor.
- Keeps daily maintenance checklist and supply of necessary forms; completes required forms for completed jobs.
Additional Functions:
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Education/ Experience/ Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; three (3) months experience in building maintenance; buffer and floor maintenance experience preferred. Must have dependable transportation. The position requires a good physical condition to operate machinery required for floor maintenance and some occasional heavy lifting.
Additional Requirements:
- May be required to possess and maintain additional certifications depending on the area of assignment.
- Requires a valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, or rude/irate customers.
