Facility Planner Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Facility Planner to join our team at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. We are looking for motivated Facility Planner who can work embedded in a federal government facility working with the Chief of Facilities, and Chief of Maintenance to research and optimize the existing departmental processes as well as assist in planning and project activations. The Facility Planner position will be located at the VA Medical Center located in Minneapolis.
The selected Facility Planner applicant will review, optimize, and implement procedures at the medical center engineering dept with an overall goal of improving efficiency and reducing cost.
Required Minimum Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an Architectural, Engineering or Construction Management college curriculum with a four (4) year degree and 5 years of relevant experience. Or systems engineers lacking a college curriculum may substitute the education requirement with an additional six years of relevant experience.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing, with experience preparing correspondence, written reports, maintaining official project records, conducting meetings, and briefing clients and management personnel.
- Knowledge of construction practices and techniques
- Ability to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the Architect's or Engineer's area of expertise.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry and OSHA
- Ability to interpret/coordinate Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications.
- Ability to utilize ladders, scaffolding, and other vertical support systems as part of construction and activation inspections.
- Experience and familiarity with Federal and local government buildings
- Familiarity with related engineering fields, including civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Familiarity with International Building Code, NFPA (including NFPA 101 Life Safety Code)
- Ability to use and access VA Master Specifications, Design Guides, and Design Manuals.
- Ability to obtain VA computer access by successfully passing a security screening, which may include fingerprinting, financial, and criminal background checks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
