Add your voice and talents to the City of Boulder and help us grow in service excellence for an inspired future.SUMMARY: As part of the afterschool team, the Program Assistant Temp assists the Family Outreach Coordinator (FOC) with daily tasks associated with running the FRS Afterschool Program. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service in-person and/or over the phone to support parents/guardians/caretakers with program logistics, as directed by the FOC. This position includes student supervision. This 10-hour temp position is available at five FRS sites, elementary schools within the city of Boulder: Columbine, Creekside, Crest View, University Hill and Whittier International. Program runs between the third week of August and the end of May. Schedules to be determined at each school, but generally are 2-5 p.m. Monday to Thursday for a total of 23-24 weeks, September-May. Spanish language ability is not required for Creekside Elementary. The Family Resource Schools (FRS) program is a partnership with the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) located at five elementary schools within the City of Boulder. FRS supports families in raising healthy, thriving children and serves the whole school community with focus on at-risk, traditionally under-represented and under-served children and families. The starting pay for this position is $17.42 - $18.00 hourly, commensurate with experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists with daily setup and teardown tasks and as needed, in support of other afterschool events • Assists with distribution of snacks, collection of attendance and dismissal • Supervises students to ensure safe behaviors • Provides excellent customer service to parents/guardians/caretakers seeking information • Performs administrative tasks related to the program • Communicates with afterschool program instructors and school staff to ensure program runs smoothly and per program requirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability and desire to work in an elementary school setting • Bilingual English/Spanish • Availability to work Mondays through Thursdays between 2-5 p.m., mid-September to end of May • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook and Google platform • Ability to work with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in a fair, supportive and cooperative manner • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and city/school staffPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience working with elementary aged children • Ability to read and write in English and SpanishREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • One-year professional experience in customer service or working with children and/or any combinationSUPERVISION: Supervision Received: Wanda Pelegrina Caldas Supervision Exercised: None WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Acceptable background check including criminal history, sex offender and child abuse & neglect registries • Works independently with minimal supervision, prioritizes and resolves problems and manages multiple projects; successfully performs in team-oriented environment • Able to work with a wide range of sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality • Responsible for safety of self and others, materials and equipment.
