ALK Abello´ Source Materials, Inc. (ASM), a leading manufacturer of quality allergenic biological source materials, and a member of the global ALK-Abello´ group of companies, is recruiting for our open Farm/Collections Technician I-II position. Join our stable and growing company and provide leadership and expertise to our workforce located in our 120,000 square foot facility in Post Falls, ID.
The Farm/Collections Technician is responsible for supporting pollen collection and ensuring the farm operations are executed according to plan. The position is also responsible for assisting with maintenance and service of all farm/collection equipment and fleet vehicles, along with accompanying service records to ensure reliability. When necessary, the position will also lead and train collection crews on proper collection techniques and equipment (per SOP’s), as well as relevant safety issues. The position also requires travel and hauling equipment to continually scout and acquire pollen in remote locations and organizes and executes hay harvest on Plummer farm fields. At times, collections can require the ability to work extended hours including weekend and holidays as needed to successfully complete the pollen collection forecast and Farm Plan.
The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree with a focus on science or a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience. Candidates must be able to identify plants by species using references and making visual identification and work in greenhouse and travel to perform plant material collection off-site, outdoors in the wild or in a farm environment. Successful candidates will have a valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate ladders, cutting tools, mechanical equipment, small engine and large heavy farm equipment. Candidates must also have an ability to work with Quality Systems and Regulatory requirements such as: GMP, FDA, OSHA, and European Authority.
All positions at ASM require the ability to comfortably and safely work around insect venoms, allergens, hazardous chemicals, solvents and other laboratory reagents.
