Summary: A Field Engineer takes direction from the Project Manager or Construction Manager in support of field construction operations/activities in order to meet construction requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves field construction problems/discrepancies
  • Optimizes processes to achieve results with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Prepares interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision
  • Prepares simple plans, designs, calculations, schedules, costs and bills of material, field inspections and/or site coordination in accordance with established codes, and company standards
  • Provide layout control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (i.e. concrete forms, anchor bolts, pipe hangers and supports, etc.)
  • Supports Project Manager with project plans, schedules, and estimates and cost controls
  • Carries out technical tasks with accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design or computation methods
  • Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful completion of projects assigned
  • Participates in short and long range planning
  • Maintain strong relationships with supervisors, peers and subordinates
  • Work closely with project management and field supervision
  • Provide constructive guidance and feedback to team members
  • Effective listening skills
  • Deal effectively with various personality types

  • Quality knowledge (i.e., building envelope, foundations, roofing systems, etc.)
  • Understanding of construction methods/techniques
  • Must be very cognitive of safety in order to help maintain Tellepsen s exemplary safety record
  • Attends all safety trainings and meetings established by Tellepsen
  • Completion of OSHA 30 & 1st Aid/CPR
  • Work related experience equal to that of a Bachelor s Degree
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good computer skills (MS Office products including Outlook)
