ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential job functions include the design of basic systems and initiating actions to install and check out the systems to meet acceptable quality standards. May require maintenance of an existing Local Area Network (LAN), adding/deleting/configuring nodes on an existing LAN; maintenance of LAN servers, installation of fiber-optic cabling, signal converters, and related equipment; interfacing a building or facility LAN to a larger network; populating and configuring PCs, and troubleshoot system problems; provide technical advice to the Government with regard to application and procurement of new technology. May configure LAN servers; develop engineering databases using database management systems such as Microsoft Access for PCs, data entry, database report design and generation, engineering spreadsheet applications development such as data analysis packages for test support projects, general user assistance and computer software configuration control and maintenance of user accounts on a LAN. May be required to assist degreed engineers in fieldwork; provides guidance and supervision for lower grade technicians in the operation and maintenance of various activities associated with an independent operation or facility. This position requires a high level of interpersonal skill, and the ability to handle very sensitive, proprietary, and confidential situations and information. Incumbents must demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy and must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. The position requires a variety of high-level computer software applications experience, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials. Establishing priorities and meeting deadlines are critical to this position. Incumbents must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Incumbents routinely exercise independent judgment and creativity to meet the requirements of this position.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics or computer science with five years of applicable experience. Must maintain a high degree of technical proficiency in the specialized area of expertise. Experience utilizing Central Scheduling Enterprise (CSE) and improved Weather Dissemination System (IWDS) is a plus Hands-on experience reporting equipment utilization is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security, and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
Job Requirements:
GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for the development, installation, operation, and maintenance of various simple computer hardware configurations, software applications, and/or fiber network design. Other assignment responsibilities may include the operation and maintenance of both electrical and mechanical systems in radar, telemetry, microwave, laser, electro-optical control, and related equipment installed and utilized on the SRI Tower.
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work assignments can be both indoor and outdoor under various environmental conditions. Work may be performed at ground level, in the 300’ SRI Tower, or at off-site mobile support locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to bend, walk, stand and lift, pull, or carry items of weight and size commensurate with job requirements
