Scope of Responsibility:
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, customer training and satisfaction of Biotage’s laboratory instrumentation portfolio. The FSE is an important role within the East Service Team Region, provides first class support to the customer installation base, and is an active contributor to the One Biotage culture.
The FSE role is a remote position, based in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT, RI) territory, requiring local and regional travel. Occasional support of the greater NA Service Team may be required in support of team goals.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assume Service ownership of assigned accounts –successfully perform Biotage installations, repairs, preventative maintenance, upgrades, and other support activities at customer sites.
- Resolve customer instrumentation complaints. Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting, root cause diagnosis, and verify operational performance of Biotage instruments and related consumables.
- Perform customer training on the safe and operational knowledge of equipment ensuring success.
- Capture, record and accurately report important information and data related to maintenance and repair activities via the Company’s service business information system.
- Effectively manage inventory trunk-stock of Biotage service parts and equipment. Maintain physical status, precise record keeping, accurate reporting, timely parts ordering and returns.
- Clear and effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Submit timely and accurate Expense Reports.
- Keep up to date and prioritize administrative responsibilities such as Work Order maintenance reports and customer correspondence.
- Independently manage daily schedule and plan weekly travel arrangements, maximizing efficiencies to align with team goals.
- Professionally represent the Organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must reside near a major airport and have a clean and valid driving license.
Qualifications and Training:
- BS degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering, related Sciences, or relevant Military advanced technical training.
- 3 or more years of experience as a Field Service Engineer.
- Laboratory support experience is a strong plus.
Physical Demands:
- LIGHT to MODERATE – ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods.
- Ability to safely work around and handle hazardous materials.
Travel Required:
- Assigned a local territory.
- Ability to travel up to 70% with some overnight stays.
- Complete formal training courses in North America/Sweden or OJT with regional team members, as needed.
