Our story begins 250 years ago

The foundation for Sund Birsta was set in 1756, when bell maker Carl Jacob
Linderberg started the company that would eventually become Sundsvalls
verkstäder. His first assignment was the casting of bells for the town’s new
church, after which he was awarded with more similar orders. The business
expanded as industrialisation progressed in one of the most important hubs for
the timber industry. Around 1960 the company developed the first solutions for
the modern rolling mill industry, and we have continued to develop these
olutions ever since. In 1992 Sund Birsta became a part of Danieli, one of the
world’s largest suppliers of plant equipment in the metal industry. Together, we
have continued to develop Sund Birsta aiming to fulfil the needs of our
customers in the best possible way.
