The Department of Radiology has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Finance Manager position.

Position Emphasis:

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Finance Manager. This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will provide high-level fiscal management to the Department of Radiology, in the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. This position is responsible for navigating financial systems and administrative activities between the University of Colorado (CU), University of Colorado Medicine, (CU Medicine), University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO). This position will compile, review and prepare financial information to assess whether revenues and expenses are on target to meet budget forecasts for the Department and will work closely with the Chair and Vice Chair, Finance and Administration (VCFA) to support implementation of the Department’s financial and strategic plans. Using available resources, position will investigate discrepancies and incorporate feedback to ensure accurate financial reporting. This position will also assist with annual budget proposals and other financial analyses as requested. This position supports decisions made by the Chair and the Vice Chair of Finance and Administration by performing a variety of finance and business tasks including, but not limited to, the Department of Radiology’s operating and restricted accounts, grants and contracts and clinical research.

Examples of Work Performed:

Financial Management

  • Fiscal responsibility and management of all funds of the Department of Radiology including state, federal, auxiliary, gift, endowment funds, grant and contract funds, and CU MEDICINE/clinical funds. Also manages the financial aspects of operations and staffing, faculty recruitment, and other short- and long-term planning functions.
  • Oversees Department’s incentive plan including monitoring, tracking, calculating and reporting, and regular distribution of payments per CU MEDICINE and Department guidelines.
  • Manages faculty practice plan and clinical revenues for the Department of Radiology.
  • Prepares budgets, controls, and regularly monitors revenue and expenditure activity for each source of funds.
  • Implements and oversees execution of financial policies and procedures related to all facets of the University and CU MEDICINE financial enterprise systems (PeopleSoft, Concur, CU Marketplace, etc.) including electronic and paper approval and submission (i.e., POs, SPOs, University Payment Vouchers, Travel Reconciliation, Employee Reimbursements, CU MEDICINE Travel and CU MEDICINE Accounts Payable, etc.).
  • Prepares faculty salary data and sources of funds for biannual salary recommendation process and responds to requests from the department for fiscal budgetary information.
  • Monitors physician services billing and collection activity.
  • Assists faculty with budget and routing paperwork and processing for grants submissions. Manages subcontract preparation and execution, and expenditures from grants and prepares reports for faculty upon request.
  • Oversees the financial operations for the Radiology community clinics at Highlands Ranch Hospital and Cherry Creek Medical Center.

Purchasing

  • Manages Department al purchasing activities, including delegation of purchasing responsibilities and adherence to purchasing policy, acquisition of capital equipment items and major capital building/renovation, and negotiation of leases.

Facilities Management

  • Oversees department employees and facilities, both on and off campus, to ensure efficiency of operations.
  • Participates in construction and/or remodeling activities and space and equipment inventory to assist in the long-range planning of facilities.

Planning

  • Participates in planning activities for the Department, including long- and short-range planning and community practice expansion.
  • Works with the Department Head and other faculty members as needed or requested to analyze and report existing and/or new programs and ventures to interested parties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • The position requires 2-5 years of extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility for budgeting, financial analysis and fiscal compliance.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • Finance/accounting experience in an academic medical center.
  • Familiar with UCD, and CU Medicine reporting system.

Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate federal, state and University policies to applicants, faculty and staff.
  • Strong diplomacy, tact, and flexibility, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $72,000 to $82,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
