POSITION SUMMARY:


This position will support the FP&A (Enterprise Analytics) function by performing financial analysis and modeling. Additional areas of focus include the annual budget process, financial reporting and forecasting, payment integrity, utilization, claims and cost analysis and evaluation of new lines of business. The position will support strategic initiatives and health plan negotiations, assessing impact of contract changes on financial performance.

SUPERVISION:

This position does not supervise staff.

ESSEN
TIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Assist team with aspects of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. Provide analysis of market activity on membership, revenue and healthcare costs.

  • Support negotiations with health plans during benefit design, product pricing and bid development. Assist in P&L analysis of health plans and products to determine areas for improvement and make recommendations to management.

  • Aid in constructing contract language and financial modeling to achieve organizational product revenue requirements under certain cost and trend assumptions while mitigating risk.

  • Assist in healthcare cost analysis by creating or enhancing reports that monitors trends in cost and utilization.

  • Work closely with the business to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies.

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models in support of forecasting and annual budgeting processes

  • Understand and incorporate industry specific metrics into reports to highlight relevant trends and support fact-based business decisions

  • This position will also perform various other analyses as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Job related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, including Documentation, if pertinent.
̶ Knowledge of accounting principles for the purpose of creating forecasts and business models. Knowledge of managed care industry, including knowledge in all facets of commercial and government revenue and reimbursement methodologies (Medicare fee schedules, CPTs, DRGs, case rates, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently; ability to work with all levels of personnel. Proficient using databases, Word and Access, Powerpoint required. Expert in Microsoft Excel, rudimentary understanding of databases and different data architecture.

̶ Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to convey complex concepts and issues to non-finance stakeholders in clear concise fashion. This position will have interactions with all levels of individuals including managers and staff from other departments, and also senior management. Capable of managing multiple, competing high priority deliverables and consistently meet internal and external deadlines in a fast paced, evolving environment.

EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or economics from an accredited program required


EXPERIENCE:

Candidate must possess a minimum of three years in an actuarial, business or financial analyst role. Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, product design/pricing or claims reserve models. Preferred experience with interpreting and working with CMS benchmark data, healthcare cost modeling and forecasting. Preferred experience in analyzing utilization and claims data, especially hospital and ancillary services. Preferred experience in analyzing contracts. The role requires healthcare industry experience working in a hospital, health plan or managed care environment.
