A Puerto Rico-based private equity fund that seeks to invest in income-producing private companies is seeking a Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller will act as an overseer of a company's financial health, overseeing the Finance and Accounting functions for The Fund. The Comptroller will be the primary relationship manager with the Fund’s Banks and Auditors, and produces and provides all the necessary reporting to the auditors and banks. The Comptroller will be responsible to input all necessary information for system reports. The Comptroller will monitor the Fund’s bank balances and approves and pays obligations that need to be paid after reviewing and understanding supporting documentation.

The duties of this position ensures that the Fund is financially operating effectively and efficiently. The Comptroller manages Fund accounting and monitors internal controls. The Comptroller participates in the investment review process and interacts with the Fund’s Portfolio companies to monitor accurate reporting at the operating level. The position is an integral part of the Fund’s management function and interacts directly with the management team.

Essential Duties:

· Provides accurate and timely company records by managing the accounting function.

· Leads financial reporting in conjunction with the Fund’s auditors and prepares financial documents such as audited financial statements and unaudited quarterly statements, financial forecasts, budgets, sources and uses of funds, etc, to report the financial state of the Fund.

· Implements policies and procedures for financial reporting through existing internal reporting sytems. Must have a good understanding and experience in advanced Fund reporting software.

· Reviews the Fund’s and Portfolio Company financial statements to determine the company’s financial health and recommends action accordingly.

· Supervises employees in preparing financial reports and budgets.

· Monitors payroll documents to ensure employees receive the correct amount per pay period.

· Understands the financials of the company in order to meet legal and tax requirements and keeps the necessary filing and payments in good standing.

· Oversees the financial closing process of Investment transactions.

· Maintains all the necessary reporting to the banks and backup system reports.

· Maintains the company bank balance and remains cognizant of outstanding checks.

· Approves invoices that need to be paid after reviewing supporting documentation

· Makes sure all financial statements and reports are correct and precise.

· Reconciles all bank statements and monthly financial reports.

· Prepares monthly sales and use tax returns.

· Prepares projections annually and updates monthly with actual figures.

· Maintains the renewals of company’s insurances.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and makes financial recommendations as appropriate.

· Attention to detail and timeliness.

· Good understanding of corporate finance in addition to auditing standards

· Able to independently manage and lead necessary efforts to improve the oversight areas.

Education and Training Requirements:

Ø Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, accounting or finance is needed as an education requirement for this position.

Ø Certified Public Accountant, License

Ø Master’s degree in a related field, desirable.

Experience Requirements:

Ø Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business or financial setting.

Ø Experience as an accountant or a similar Comptroller or Audit position.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
