POSITION DUTIES:

  • Design, develop and implement financial literacy services for low to moderate income individuals.

  • Engage program participants and community members in affirmative ways to optimize their receptivity to financial literacy and credit repair techniques and interventions including assessing financial situation and helping them to develop realistic spending, savings, and debt management plans, improving or building credit, developing emergency savings funds, foreclosure prevention and mitigation and building assets (retirement, education, housing, etc.).

  • Manage Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database to support outcome tracking system. Assist Program Manager with reporting and documentation requirements.

  • Collaborate with the services team to reach participant service and program goals.

  • Represent agency at Greater Detroit Center for Working Families Network (CWF) meetings and other assigned collaboration meetings including out-of-state CWF meetings.

  • Coordinate and conduct financial awareness workshops, seminars and other activities for targeted population.

  • Coordinate tax assistance services for participants with accounting services partner.

  • Interfaces with local financial institutions regarding products and value-added financial services for program participants.

  • Assist in developing a community marketing and participant outreach plan.

  • Prepare statistical and outcomes measurement reports as required.

  • Provide program coverage in absence of Program Manager.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Provide group and individual financial counseling for low to moderate income individuals to assist their reaching financial stability through the development of action plans for financial literacy, wealth building, foreclosure prevention and mitigation
and Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). The Financial Services Coordinator will coordinate the integration of appropriate organization services into the Center for Working Families (CWF) model.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or business related field. In lieu of degree, extensive background in the financial or credit counseling industry.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in financial and credit counseling.
  • Extensive experience in credit report repair strategies/techniques.
  • Presentation of financial literacy seminars, banking basics, credit repair, home foreclosure/prevention.
  • Strong knowledge in financial wealth building techniques including establishing financial objectives, retail level banking, personal financial indices, mortgage application eligibility preparation and other asset building techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills including public speaking and presentation skills using PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively with low to moderate income individuals.
  • Documented skills in community collaborations development and involvement.
