Job description
Responsible for
watching out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other
employees. Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.
- Able to read and write
effectively
- Proper Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Keep track of time
locations and fire bottles assigned
- Keep track of fire
extinguishers daily
- Watch out for fire
hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees
- Keep flammable
materials from ignition sources.
- In the event of fire,
extinguish it immediately or turn a fire alarm on
- Able to work in
confined spaces
- Performs fire
prevention activities during hot work operations.
- Performs other duties
as assigned.
- Must be able to
fulfill job requirements as directed by Foreman & Firewatch Coordinator.
- Must be able to work
for 8 to 12 hours per day
- Must be able to work
up to 5-7 days a week
Physical Job Demands
- Moderate physical
effort required, including standing for extended periods.
- Continuous mental
and visual attention required.
- Subject to random
drug and alcohol testing
- Lift heavy objects
(50-60+/- lbs.)
Experience
2 years or more in
some capacity of Fire Watch general labor experience specifically with
shipboard experience within shipyard environment. In possession or able to
obtain fire watch certification
