Currently have travel positions for firewatch/tankwatch to work in Kings Bay, GA.

Fire watches are required to eliminate and control fire hazards whenever welding or other hot work operations are done. This is an entry level position into the shipbuilding industry. If you have what it takes to be a fire preventer and know this job is for you, please contact our office.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to accomplish the semi-skilled functions within the trade where assigned.
  • Must be able to check out, deliver, return and properly care for the required material and tools used in the trade.
  • Must Have OSHA 10 Maritime
  • Must Have Firewatch Certification
  • Must be able to pass a seven-year background check w/ No Felonies
  • Must pass drug test and E-Verify.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Hard Hat, Steel Toe Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Gloves
  • Must have an active Yellow Badge (Confidential security clearance or higher).
  • Must have a valid and current medical screening.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Watch out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees.
  • Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the Hot work permit. Keep area clean and free of debris. Clean up work space at the end of each shift.
  • Keep flammable materials 30ft from ignition sources.
  • In the event of fire, extinguish it immediately or turn a fire alarm on.
  • Call 911 or the emergency alarm number.
  • Stop operations if you find any hazardous condition.
  • Make sure you and other employees are aware of the exact location of fire fighting equipment in the immediate area. Maintain constant means of communication with Hot Worker.
  • As much as possible, keep visual and voice contact with other employees.
  • Before and during each shift, inspect the entire work area and look for potential release of flammable vapors or liquids.
  • Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors, and hose carts anytime.
  • Never leave the job site while the work is being done. If you have to leave, stop the job and notify workers that you are “standing-by-for”.
  • When all operations are done, do not leave the worksite unless you’re sure that there are no hot sparks, burning embers and other fire hazards.
  • Return all fire fighting equipment to their original location.

*TRAVEL TO KINGS BAY, GA IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. ALL WORK WILL BE DONE THERE*

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per year
