The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-moving internal startup type environment as a team player and self-starter, who often takes initiative from within teams to bring projects to completion. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to overall system architecture definition for sophisticated power converters, switch gear, and energy storage equipment
  • Evaluate, model, implement, and test advanced, high performance communication & control strategies
  • Develop and document software with appropriate formalism for safety critical applications as described in UL 1998

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline, Computer Science or Physics
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience including the development and deployment of real-time embedded software and control systems for custom hardware platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Physics with 3-5 or more years experience in the development and deployment of real-time embedded SW and control systems for custom HW platforms
  • Formal training and implementation experience with Digital Signal Processing and Control Theory
  • Prior design experience with Cortex family of 32 bits microprocessors, M0,M3, etc
  • Prior experience in the development and documentation of embedded software compliant to formal safety certification processes such as UL1998 or similar
  • Prior experience developing SW for Power Electronics applications e.g. Precision Motor and Servo controls, Uninterruptable Power Supplies, solar power inverters, etc.
  • Prior experience with the implementation of Distributed Energy Resources such as Solar/PV Inverters or Wind Turbines
  • Experience with test equipment typically used for embedded electronics development such as Logic Analyzers, high performance Oscilloscopes and Spectrum Analyzers, etc.

Location

This position will be based in the Pacific Palisades, CA, near Santa Monica, CA.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally be ready to lift loads as large as 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include actions typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position will require occasional travel, including internationally.

Pay: From $130,000.00 per year
