The Wildland Fire Management Division staffs over 1200 permanent and temporary firefighters, support staff, and program employees, bringing together leaders, partners, and stakeholders in wildland fire prevention, response, and community resilience for effective wildland fire management. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for a Fiscal Analyst 1 to provide critical support in carrying out the day-to-day fiscal actions for the Wildland Fire Management Division.
This position is responsible for assisting with fiscal duties for the Forest Fire Protection Assessment (FFPA) Program. It will include reconciling monthly statements, processing documents, and verifying landowner information for processing FFPA refunds. The position also includes running and analyzing reports, monitoring and researching monthly expenditures, initiating expenditure corrections, document retrieval and projects. This is a 6 month non-permanent position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the necessary support functions to ensure funds are properly accounted for in terms of accuracy.
- Assist with FFPA combinations and exempt billings.
- Review and process FFPA Refund Forms, monthly collections, and annual exempt billings.
- Review recurring expenditures for correct program index and Fund/Appn Codes and Project code, if applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 credit hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting and 1 year of fiscal related experience. Additional experience can substitute for education.
- Experience with reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting financial information and reports, as well as analyzing and correcting discrepancies.

- Work is performed in an office setting (95%) with some evening and weekend work to complete projects, with prior approval. May be required to move 25 to 30 pounds.

- Knowledge and experience in the FFPA program.
- 3 years of fiscal experience, with an understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Experience effectively conveying ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
- Experience organizing and prioritizing work with inflexible and conflicting deadlines.
