We own and operate 24 communities all over Austin and in North Texas.

Position Summary: The Fitness Instructor provides on-site or virtual (if COVID-19 risk is high) group exercise instruction to Health Initiatives program participants at our family and efficiency studio communities in North and South Austin. We are currently recruiting experienced fitness instructors trained in cardio & strength, Zumba or Tai Chi. Any of the following class formats could apply: Boot camp, Body Pump, Cross Fit, Zumba or Tai Chi. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community health and wellness and be motivated to deliver high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction to vulnerable populations. This position is part-time hourly. Fitness Instructors typically work Monday-Thursday (mornings/afternoons, 7:30am-9am, 10am-3pm, or evenings, 6:30pm-8:30pm) with some variation.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for fitness participants from various backgrounds and skill levels, ages 18+
• Provide high-quality, culturally sensitive fitness instruction including modifications to exercise routines when necessary
• Manage and maintain class sign-in sheets when in person
• Opening/closing duties at worksite(s)
• Assist with room set-up and break-down before and after class at properties
• Establish and maintain on-going communication with Health Program Manager and FC childcare providers (where applicable)
• Demonstrate and promote punctuality/clocking in and out
• Other duties as assigned my supervisor

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

• Virtual Classes – Proficiency or ability to learn Zoom online platform.
• Virtual Classes – Ability to instruct online
• Provide appropriate music for class

Minimum Qualifications (experience, education, credentials, language):

• Current certification or proof of exercise training course completion
• Prior experience teaching group fitness classes
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Reliable means of transportation when necessary
• Prior experience working with and/or an awareness of the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged families

• Ability to communicate via email, and online scheduling platforms
• CPR/First Aid Certified preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at some locations
• Bilingual (English/Arabic) a plus

Physical Demands/Work Environment :( include amount of lifting, twisting, bending, sitting, standing, keyboarding, driving, noise, indoor/outdoor etc.)

• Standing/running/jogging/exercising for long periods of time.
• Lifting or use of weights or bands as appropriate for offered classes.
• Lead, instruct, motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercises, strength training, and stretching.

Salary ranges: $22-$24/per hour
