Job description

Anchor Sign is looking to hire a Mechanic/Tech for its ever-growing fleet shop. This is a normal Monday through Friday job but there will be times that you will be on call and may require some weekend work. The typical Workday is 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Starting hourly pay is $25/hr

General Description:

  • Servicing and repairing a variety of powered carts, automobiles and trucks to ensure that all Company vehicles are operating within the appropriate manufacturer’s, governmental and Company Standards.
  • Utilizes hand tools, power tools and other specialized equipment to perform assembly and repair operations.
  • Ensures that all repairs and maintenance performed is in full accordance with federal, state and Company standards.

Specific Requirements:

Including but not limited to:

Performing a variety of basic repairs on vehicles including, but not limited to: golf carts, automobiles, gas and/or diesel-powered trucks, trailers and cranes.

Assisting with disassembling and performing overhauls to Company vehicles including, but not limited to brakes, electrical systems, rear-ends and other assemblies.

Conducting the required Inspections on vehicles to check for real or potential problems or defects.

Performing the required corrective/preventative maintenance, as needed.

Replacing worn or broken parts on a variety of automotive systems.

Performing oil changes and other service, as needed, on vehicles. Disposing of all waste products in the proper and safe manner.

Performing other duties related to the maintenance and upkeep of vehicles.

Immediately reporting any and all vehicle damage to Company Management.

Assisting the Fleet Mechanic with scheduling and conducting preventative maintenance (PM) or other, necessary maintenance on fleet vehicles and cranes.

Ordering vehicle parts and other related supplies from approved dealers for the department.

Ensuring that all materials and chemicals (I.e. oil, power steering fluid, etc.) are properly utilized to prevent unnecessary waste or spillage.

Performing various bench-type processes to complete assemblies and sub-assemblies, using various automated systems, hand tools, and power tools.

Performing basic wiring and installing lighting systems (I.e. bulbs, head lights etc.) on a variety of vehicles.

Using measuring tools (I.e. rulers and tape measures) to ensure that each component is fabricated to the proper and correct size and dimension.

Tracking department supply inventory, advising the Fleet Mechanic or Department Head of supply needs.

Working and performing all job duties in a safe and appropriate manner in adherence with Company policies and established work practices.

Maintaining work area and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.

Performing preventative maintenance on equipment, as needed.

Completing tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision.

Providing specialized, hands-on training on the system(s) operated to other employees.

Performing any other tasks assigned by management.

Work Experience Requirements:

Qualified candidate should have at least 1 to 3 years of prior work experience in an automotive repair or other related field.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Overtime and sometimes weekend work.

Must have a detailed knowledge of internal combustion engines and chassis maintenance.

Must have basic computer skills including the use of MS office programs.

Must be able demonstrate a firm grasp of the automated/computerized system(s) he/she operates as part of his/her regular duties.

Must be able follow written and verbal directions.

Must be able to multi-task – successfully handle multiple projects and directions at the same time.
