A Flight Dispatcher is the core of Flight Operations. Their primary focus is carrying out various tasks to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of operations for students and staff alike. A Flight Dispatcher will be diligent to their own responsibilities, as well as assist other team members when necessary to manage overall operational flow. Responsibilities may include:
- Greeting and checking in students, visitors, and other individuals
- Checking out/checking in aircraft and flight simulator keys
- Management and allocation of training resources to include aircraft, flight simulators, and “practice areas”
- Securing aircraft and ramp spaces during inclement weather or closing of operations
- Ground handling of aircraft
- Assist with ramp flow control during special operations (de-ice)
- Customer service to include training activity cancellations, requests, and general questions
- Radio communication with training flights for various procedures
- Communication with team members, training staff, and students regarding operational changes, delays, or other pertinent information
- Appropriate response to emergency/abnormal situations in accordance with established procedure
- Other duties as assigned by on-duty supervisor
