RIPHI oversees public health programs, conducts translational and policy research, and trains students and public health practitioners. Food on the Move (FOTM) is an initiative of RIPHI. Food on the Move’s mission is to make fresh, healthy food accessible and affordable to everyone. We provide a SNAP incentive to all customers, bring low-cost fruits and vegetables to the people who need them the most and use data to advocate for food systems solutions that prioritize low cost, accessible, healthy food.
Position Summary:
Market Team Members are responsible for assisting with the daily operation of the mobile market and serving our customers. Market Team Members represent RIPHI and project a positive image while providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to clients and client site personnel. Responsibilities include stocking the truck with new inventory at the start of each day, unpacking and setting up produce displays, maintaining displays throughout the market, cashiering and packaging produce for customers, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Typically, one to two markets are held per day; early morning, evening, and/or weekend work may be required. The position includes driving a van with a trailer; applicant’s willingness to train to drive the vehicle is essential. Market Team Member responsibilities are subject to change over time given needs of the organization.
Market Team Members report to the Food on the Move Market Operations Coordinator.
Responsibilities
Conduct market operation duties such as:
- Stocking the mobile trailer with produce
- Unpacking, displaying produce and breaking down the market in compliance with market
protocols
- Using the Point of Sale (POS) system to manage, track and report pricing and inventory
- Driving the truck and trailer
- Providing excellent customer service
- Helping ensure quality of weekly produce inventory
- Attending regular FOTM Team meetings
The Market Team Member position is subject to change over time given the needs of
the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge and appreciation of Food on the Move’s mission and desire to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to client sites.
- Reliability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Ability to follow procedures and policies set by program management.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule based on needs of client sites, including evening hours.
- Respect for the clients we serve.
- Must be able to bend and lift loads, up to 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to respond to constructive criticism and feedback from supervisors and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member is essential to this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must be interested and willing to be trained to drive the mobile market, which is a large van and hitched trailer.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- 1 year of customer service experience

COMPENSATION AND COMMITMENT:
- Part time: Up to 20 hours per week, competitive salary
- Job Type: Part-time
- Compensation: $15/hour
START DATE:
This position will be a summer seasonal position with a start date of mid May to mid- June
