The Rhode Island Public Health Institute (RIPHI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote community health and eliminate health disparities in Rhode Island and beyond. RIPHI oversees public health programs, conducts translational and policy research, and trains students and public health practitioners. Food on the Move (FOTM) is an initiative of RIPHI. Food on the Move’s mission is to make fresh, healthy food accessible and affordable to everyone. We provide a SNAP incentive to all customers, bring low- cost fruits and vegetables to the people who need them the most, and use data to advocate for food systems solutions that prioritize low-cost, accessible, healthy food.

Position Summary:
Food on the Move conducts a longitudinal survey to better understand our customer base as well as the impact FOTM may have on food insecurity, fruit and vegetable consumption, and chronic disease management. We are looking for temporary survey collection workers who will be responsible for collecting secondary surveys from our market customers at 3 market sites in Providence. These surveys include questions about eating habits, food security, and health. We are interested in learning if Food on the Move markets may improve people’s health, especially older adults. Training for survey administration will be provided.

Requirements
Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be willing to receive a survey training
  • Must obtain or provide a previously completed CITI ethics training certificate
  • Attention to detail
  • Appreciation of Food on the Move’s mission and desire to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to client sites.
  • Reliability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Must be able to respond to constructive criticism and feedback from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member is essential to this position.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
  • Survey administration experience preferred

In the wake of COVID – 19, we have had to implement many protocols to ensure the safety of our staff and the vulnerable populations we serve. You must be willing to learn and adhere to all safety protocols and you must be up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines.

COMPENSATION:

A $200 stipend will be provided after the completion of training and survey collection at 3 market sites.

COMMITMENT:

This is a temporary position and we expect a total commitment of 4-5 days (including survey training) in a time period to be determined from mid December-mid January.
