$1,000 sign-on bonus (taxes/terms apply. Current employees are not eligible for bonus)

Food Service Assistant I:
Sets up tray line for meal services and prepares hot and cold food items, as well as portions. Assembles and delivers patient trays. Inventories and orders supplies. Maintains sanitation in the cafeteria and kitchen. Serves meals to patrons in the Hospital cafeteria. Maintains cafeteria/side line equipment, service areas and work stations in an orderly condition.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Sets up hot and cold section of tray line for meal service. Prepares and cooks hot and cold food items for hot and modified diets including sodium, fat, calorie and protein restricted menu items. Prepares and cooks a limited number of short order menu items.
2. Assembles, delivers, and picks up trays upon completion of meal service.
3. Delivers nourishment to bedside or designated area of the patient care units according to established procedures.
4. Cleans and sanitizes counters, tray lines, food wells, appliances and equipment in Main Kitchen work space and according to specific schedule. Reads and records temperature of appropriate food and equipment daily. Washes dishes, silverware, trays and serving equipment using dish machine and three bay sink.
5. Provides the highest quality customer service at all times. Prepares, portions and serves food to customers according to established procedures. Responds to, resolves and/or refers customer questions or problems. Resolves problems in work area requiring immediate attention, in the absence of the supervisor.
6. Prepares a variety of food items. Monitors sanitation and food handling, storage and temperature to ensure compliance with established codes and standards.
7. Prepares service areas at the start and end of each meal period following established schedules. Turns on equipment and measures, tests and distributes sanitation solutions. Arranges, straightens and cleans dining tables, chairs and counters.
8. Maintains and sanitizes food service equipment, work stations and service areas. Monitors and reports equipment in need of repair of replacement. Maintains related logs and records.
9. Sets up cafeteria food stations with prescribed menu items.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to read and understand and respond to written instructions and oral instruction. No previous experience is required,
2. Ability to add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters.
3. Occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involves courtesy.

Physical Requirements
1. Frequently lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing up to 10 pounds and frequently lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing 11 to 20 pounds.
2. Frequently stooping and bending, sitting and standing.
3. Frequently reaching and grasping objects below, at, and above shoulder level.
4. Regularly pushing and/or pulling non-motorized equipment e.g., stretcher, food cart, mop, etc. weighing 11 to 20 pounds.
5. Regularly grasping and fine manipulation with hands. Work requires regularly proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
