Additionally, Underground Infrastructure Technologies, LLC (UIT), a division of Harrison Western, is a full-service utility contractor specializing in trenchless technologies. UIT preforms wet and dry utility installations utilizing both trenchless technologies and open cut excavation to complete projects, large or small in multiple geographic markets. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, we have completed over $2 billion of mining and construction development projects that range geographically from the Artic to the Andes.


We are currently looking for an experienced Foreman/Shifter to join our team. Foremen/Shifters are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day mining/construction activities and are responsible for making sure that the workplans, as communicated by the Superintendent, are being carried out during their shift. The Foreman/Shifter will work with assigned crew to help ensure tasks and projects are completed on schedule and within budget and safely.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Take instructions for daily tasks from the Superintendent
  • Lead Safety and Toolbox meetings with crew
  • Ensure all work plans and JHA’s are covered before tasks are started
  • Complete daily log of work performed
  • Supervise crew members
  • Perform safety inspections of work area
  • Train personnel as needed
  • Coordinates shift personnel and materials, equipment and daily work activities to successfully complete tasks and projects on schedule
  • Ensures regulated and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn
  • Follows all health and safety policy and regulations including company policies, OSHA and MSHA
  • Ensures applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to and always complied for all such work
  • Trains, assigns and coaches employees
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings and reviews JHA/Work Plan with shift crew daily
  • Responds to safety concerns/unsafe conditions and takes corrective action, or seeks assistance in doing so
  • Performs workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and accident / incident investigations
  • Completes documentation, reporting, and follow up requirements
  • Set-up and operation of drilling and excavation equipment (jacklegs drills, shaft & slope jumbos, muckers, etc.)
  • Approves construction work by conducting inspections
  • Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with and enforcing applicable regulations

Skills and Specifications:

  • 5 plus years knowledge and experience in underground mining/remediation/construction
  • 3 plus years prior supervisory/lead experience
  • Ability to take direction from supervision
  • Recognize hazards and safety risks
  • Familiar with equipment and tools required for the position
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Work in a standing, seated, or other physical positions
  • ATF clearance
  • Able to travel extensively to different jobsites throughout the nation

Compensation:

  • $32.00 to $36.00 per hour depending on experience
  • Per diem included
