Central State Hospital (CSH), a 277 bed, Joint Commission accredited public psychiatric facility, located in Petersburg, Virginia, is seeking clinical psychologists who are qualified to complete forensic evaluations to be a part of our Forensic Evaluation Team. The hospital serves individuals who are civilly committed, and/or individuals in the criminal justice system who need treatment and/or pre-trial forensic evaluation. In addition, CSH hosts the only maximum security forensic program for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
CSH is seeking a part-time Forensic Evaluator. As a member of the Forensic Evaluation Team, the incumbent will be responsible for providing forensic and psychological evaluations to include, Competency to Stand Trial (both pre and post-restoration), Mental Status at the Time of Offense(s), violence risk assessments, and evaluations regarding the continued confinement of insanity acquittees. There will be ample support and peer consultation from others on the forensic evaluation team provided.

Minimum Qualifications
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and be licensed in Clinical Psychology in Virginia. Applicants should have strong clinical psychology skills and forensic evaluation skills. Excellent forensic report-writing and testimony skills. The ability to manage multiple competing demands is essential. The incumbent must have strong communication skills to build cooperative relationships with professional staff from among many disciplines, and with external customers in the criminal justice system.

Special Requirements
This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year. Candidate must be available to complete a full-time orientation course, Monday – Friday, prior to working a part-time schedule.
