Position Title: Forklift Operator Salary/Hourly: Hourly
General Summary
Forklift Operator is responsible for the loading and unloading of material on trucks and/or rail cars. Moves material safely across facility. Maintains correct paperwork and shipping, receiving, and treating records are required. Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific direction and instructions.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
- Experience driving a forklift or operating similar equipment is preferred
- Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques
- Successfully complete Forklift Driver certification process
- Successfully pass a drug test

- Ability to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to frequently get on/off a forklift, withstand operations in rough surfaces, work in wide range of weather condition, and operate a forklift for extended periods of time.
- Demonstrate eye-hand coordination
- Ability to work under immediate supervision and work hours mandated by management
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads trucks and railcars
- Moves material and other products from storage to work areas and vice versa as required.
- Breaks packs to correct size and labels material before loading/unloading product on a truck or rail car
- Provides general preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Completes pre-shift/startup equipment checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
- Maintains yard and ensures it is organized and clean (assist with housekeeping in work area)
- Completes paperwork as required.
- Follows forklift rules and policies as described by company policy.
- Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.
- Performs other duties as required.
