At Education in Atlanta we are always looking to add experienced freelance journalists to our pool of newsroom talent to contribute timely pieces to our wide variety of digital news . We are looking for writers who can meet our deadlines, contribute high quality content that needs minimal editing, and are receptive to story leads we pitch to cover – and to pitching us story ideas on education in the metro Atlanta area!
Here are some examples of possible coverage areas:
1) Education. We cover education news for all of the counties in the metro Atlanta area. Covering educationtypically means attending (or watching) live streaming board meetings and writing a 400-500 words summary, attending sporting events and interviewing school district employees. Along with following up on other stories that may arise. We attend events througout the metro area where education stories may arise and rountinely follow up on issues that arise in the area.
Pay structure: Generally speaking we have a $50-$100+/article pay scale for freelancers. When we pitch an idea we will let you know in advance what it pays, or if you pitch us an idea – let us know what you are willing to complete the work for, keeping the above scale in mind.
