Position Overview

This position is primarily responsible for all aspects of inbound and outbound freight cost control, analysis, recording and reporting. Specific duties to include comparing quoted costs to actual bills received and that costs are appropriate: ensuring freight bills are received, recorded timely and accurately in the general ledger and financial statements. Individual will also be responsible for working with logistics to identify and report on savings, analyzing and reporting on expense due to OS&D (over, short and damaged) as well as re-work and returns. Freight Analyst will collect shipping damage from customer service and shipping departments, and manage them through to final assessment and collection

Essential Job Functions

  • Accounting and budget:
  • Payment processing:
  • Matches invoices against relevant quotations and ensures approvals per established policy.
  • Coordinates discrepancy resolution
  • Optimize freight invoice format and upload to EPICOR
  • Accurately enters for financial system posting and timely payment; proper month end accruals where invoices not yet received
  • Reconciliations:
  • Reconciles vendor statements against documents received.
  • Resolves discrepancies.
  • Monthly analysis and reporting:
  • Compliance against quotes and cost reduction targets.
  • Budget vs. actual with appropriate improvement recommendations.
  • Route and load optimization trends.
  • OS&D costs, root cause analysis results, and recommendations.
  • Tariffs collected vs. tariffs paid with appropriate improvement recommendations.
  • Other as requested by CFO or Controller
  • OS&D:
  • Capture costs.
  • Perform root cause analysis.
  • Lead process for filing freight claims as appropriate
  • Regulatory and tariffs:
  • Assist with duty drawback efforts in support of risk management/logistics
  • Provide support to Company Logistics team as needed
  • Provide support for maintenance of customs and other necessary bonds.

  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines for projects in a high-pressure work environment, with varying degrees of supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with various members across the organization

  • 1st shift 8:00 am - 5:30pm.

Required Education and Experience

  • BS degree in Finance and/or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience with strong quantitative experience in international freight and logistics
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, spreadsheets and general computer use
