First State Orthopaedics is looking for a Front Desk Receptionist for our Newark, DE locations with as needed travel to provide direct support to physicians, mid-level providers, clerical staff and patients. Coordinates inter and intra office communications. Work directly with patients to ensure smooth patient flow, patient satisfaction and coordination of multiple tasks. Presents a positive image to supporting staff members and patients at all times.
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or Associates Degree in related field, previous experience in a medical office practice, excellent communication and computer skills, patient service focus and professional appearance. Required to work flexible hours and travel between offices. Ability to work early morning two days a week, starting at 7:00 a.m. and closing 6:00 p.m.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Answering incoming telephone calls
- Schedule appointments
- Ask MRI questions concerning metal, etc.
- If stents or other metal in the body, verify with Powerchart, family doctor or treating physician that the stent, metal or implant is MRI compatible.
- Update patient information.
- Collect patient demographic information and nature of complaint/injury on new patients that contact the office by phone, enter data in the computer, schedule appointments.
- Maintain good communication with MRI precert to ensure MRI is authorized.
- Carefully document all incoming messages and task to appropriate party.
- Refer calls of a clinical nature to the appropriate medical secretary or provider.
- Primary daily patient check-in and check-out, collection of demographic data, and collection and posting of co-pays.
- Process credit card payments and end of day settlement for credit payments.
- Complete end of day tally sheet for monies collected.
- Manage petty cash account.
- Create encounters
- Maintain adequate copies of all front office forms.
- Back-up or delegate other front office staff duties as needed.
- Cover front desk while co-worker at lunch.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Organizational responsibilities: promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency situations; sharing problems relating to patients or staff with immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
- Coordinate timing with MRI tech and escort patient to dressing room to undress and give gown/shorts as necessary to proceed with MRI scan
- Inform MRI tech that patient is ready
- Prepare charts for the following day and check chart notes for any patients that may owe money.
- Place orders for any supplies.
- Fax or give charts/paperwork to radiologist for readings.
- Make sure readings are in charts prior to sending to be scanned.
- Fill out ER/Surgery billing sheet w/date, codes, encounter, etc.
- Verify information on billing sheet (encounter, etc. are correct).
