The YAI Brooklyn Heights Group Day Habilitation Program, located in the hub of activity in the borough of Brooklyn, offers people the opportunity to participate in community based integrated activities such as volunteering in a variety of not for profit organizations. This is available to enhance his/her communication, socialization, community awareness, travel safety, interaction and self direction skills. Another aspect of the program seeks to improve people’s access and awareness of the recreation and educational activities/opportunity available in the community. This group will participate in recreation center activities, participate in cultural tours of neighborhoods in NYC, visit museums, restaurants and more. People develop new skills and have unique new experiences in a setting that emphasizes individual choices, wishes and ideas.The program maintains a 5:1 people to staff ratio.
