Job Summary

Graduate research assistants are generally assigned to individual faculty members to assist with their research, and the majority of the assigned duties are tied to this research. The nature of the assistance varies by discipline and can involve a variety of activities such as:
1. Mechanics of library system
2. Proposal writing
3. Data gathering
4. Data Analysis

For this particular position, job duties include working with an assigned School of Social Work faculty member to assist with research support that may include literature review, data collection, data management, data analysis, field work, and report preparation.

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf
2. Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University
3. Applicants should have at least a 3.0 GPA
4. Applicants should already be admitted to or currently enrolled in School of Social Work pursuing a Masters in Social Work at Illinois State University.
5. Strong organization, writing, and communication skills.
6. Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ability to work independently
2. Library research skills (ISU preferred)
3. Standard computer skills (MS Word, Excel, SPSS)
