Job Summary:
The General Manager of Sugpiat Defense, LLC., will uphold the mission and values established by Akhiok-Kaguyak, Inc. and the Sugpiat Family of Companies. He / She will have routine contact with teammates, vendors, and external clients. The General Manager will function as the Business Development Executive for Sugpiat Defense an SBA 8(a) subsidiary and is responsible for building a pipeline and closing deals to grow company business. He / She will engage with senior level customers across Federal civilian and defense contracting sectors, and with other Federal contractors. Performance will be evaluated on rapid build out of high PWIN pipeline and closing deals. Must have an entrepreneurial spirit to build and win new business. Business focus is on cyber security services. Experience with Alaska Native Corporations a plus. As the General Manager you will provide visionary and strategic leadership for a Department of Defense contract organization. Responsible for establishing and measuring the company's short-term goals and long-term strategies. Ensures that company resources are properly allocated and deployed to effectively meet the overall goals and strategies of the company.
Essential Job Functions:
- Strategic Planning, lead strategic planning efforts to establish the growth targets and performance goals for the company. Updating Company 1-year and 3-year plans with quarterly goals that will meet revenue goals.
- Build Company Pipeline by identifying contracting opportunities, and win contract awards
- Develop and implement a go-to-market strategy with the member representative, update planning timely as need to keep a strategic edge in marketplace
- Create and maintain Relationship-Building strategies for each major customer
- P & L Management, provide timely and accurate cost updates and forecast plans that will meet monthly budget goals
- Champion to drive and win new business for significant growth. Must be a creative deal-closer with solution based selling background and track record of closing multiple $20-30 million single award deals for new business. Develop the company?s top-level key performance objectives including financial goals, operational performance metrics, and operating budgets. Ensure key performance objectives are measured, monitored, and met.
- Ability to effectively write proposals.
- Expertise in one or more of the following core competencies: Cybersecurity, Software Development, Logistics, Aviation Maintenance, Security Assistance, SCRM, Construction, Information Technology, Munitions
- Business Strategy Development ? Define, refine, test, and implement strategic plans. These activities include primary research, industry, market and competitive analysis, customer needs assessment. Define the product roadmap in the long, mid, and short term.
- Alliance Development ? Identify, build, and manage long-term relationships with strategic partners in market segments related to the Sugpiat Family of Companies. Initiate and complete proposals, presentations, terms and conditions, negotiations, and execution strategic for alliances and Joint Ventures.
- New Business Development ? Identify and evaluate specific business opportunities. Work with the team to identify and evaluate new markets for existing services, and other development and marketing partnership opportunities.
- Marketing Strategy Development ?Coordinate with the management team to develop sound marketing strategies to win in the marketplace. This will include market segmentation, value proposition development, product positioning, pricing strategy, branding strategy, channel strategy, and communications strategy development. The position will require up to 40% travel.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
- Ensure that the day-to-day operations are managed in accordance with the corporate policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the processes, procedures, controls, and infrastructure are in place to deliver quality products, consistent with cost and schedule targets.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other associations, industry, and government officials in the best interest of achieving the company?s goals. Develop teaming or partnership arrangements as required to support the company?s strategic direction.
- Determine the company's competitive posture on current and future business. Accountable for decisions which have a direct effect on the company's short- and long-range financial performance.
- Develop and lead the subsidiary staff, including organizational structure, professional development, motivation, performance evaluation, discipline, compensation, personnel policies, and procedures
- Accountable for supporting ISO and CMMI systems and how their performance contributes to not only your achievement but, the achievement of ISO and CMMI compliance across the organization.
- Report any issue that they see or perceive to be a deterrent to quality and our ISO and CMMI compliance.
- Look for improvement opportunities for both ISO and CMMI systems, bring those to the attention of management.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor?s degree required with a master?s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant leadership experience in the defense industry or equivalent military experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance ? Top Secret
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Skilled proposal writer
- Requires extensive financial and operational knowledge with the ability to make critical top-level decisions that could affect the overall performance of the company.
- Requires strong management skills with the ability to lead a diverse organization and resolve challenging circumstances.
- Must possess communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.
- Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.

- 5 to 10 years of experience in Federal contracting
- Must be competent with Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Experience with GovWin a plus
- Experience negotiating teaming agreements a plus.
- Strategic planning experience a plus
