The General Manager for the Birmingham area directs and coordinates activities to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the duties personally or through subordinate managers, coordinators, and supervisors to coach, counsel and train guest services and security operations team members to improve individual skills. BEST Crowd Management currently partners up with the Protective Stadium, Legacy Arena and Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center for guest services staffing and security staffing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforce company policies, and make recommendations on improvements to existing policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard the company.
- Provide leadership of market operations including vulnerability mitigation, incident response, and
- risk assessments.
- Ensure all day-to-day operations are operating within the procedures set forth by the company. These operational categories include recruiting, hiring, security licensing, training, scheduling, event day operations and administrative responsibilities.
- Main contact to client/employee inquiries, concerns, and/or complaints. Prevent future issues by examining all past situations and maintaining a proactive thought process.
- Recommend operational strategies to Regional Manager and Senior Leadership that improves execution and provide additional value to customers in a cost-effective manner. Always focus on more cost-effective ways to provide a higher level of service to our clients/employees.
- Effectively communicates goals and objectives to the local management team and maintains accurate and up to date records necessary for processing of internal and external reports.
- Overall responsibility for creation of staffing estimates – tracking estimated cost vs. actual cost; review of contracts for compliance; supervision of company labor and subcontractors; ensuring accurate payroll, invoices, and timely collections
- Proactively communicates with and seeks feedback from all venue clients. Seeks to continuously improve customer satisfaction; meets with customers on a regular basis to ensure we are meeting their needs
- Proactively communicates with and seeks feedback from all staff. Seeks to continuously improve performance and efficiencies.
- Supervises and coaches colleagues in a manner that maintains morale, skills proficiency, and productivity. Managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to: mentoring, coaching and
- developing colleagues; planning, assigning and directing work. Recruit and train team members as required by business needs
- Maintain the proper image and generate positive public relations by resolving issues, concerns, and complaints pertaining to service in your market.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and management of facilities best practices for security and fan conduct.
- Make immediate decisions and communicate with security staff in emergency situations.
- Adhere to budget(s) set forth including, but not limited to; overtime percentages, labor percentages, profit rate, open post rate, revenue within region, collection of outstanding invoices etc.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of crowd management experience at a sports/entertainment venue, with an emphasis in business management
- Experience managing branch office locations including a focus on financial performance
- Background in a fast-paced, ever-changing business environment
- Experience growing a business at a rapid pace to become a market leader
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, it is required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear. On occasion, it may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The position may also require work in confined spaces and exposure to different types of outdoor weather conditions.
Must occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
The position is an office-based position with frequent requirements to work at or attend scheduled events in an outdoor environment.
