Title:
Girls Program Instructor (Impact Lead I-GHGH)

Work Schedule: Part-time, non- exempt; generally to be scheduled 20 hours a week, Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 7:30pm, with monthly Saturday meetings and occasional evening and other weekend responsibilities.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the GHGH Coordinator, the GHGH Impact Lead I will support youth success through outstanding, Mission-driven and integrity-centered leadership and assist management of the Girls’ Health in Girls’ Hands program. S/he accomplishes this by cultivating and managing an engaging, age-appropriate and outcome-driven program serving girls ages 8-18 in Monterey County.

This position involves flexible hours and remote work due to program activities occurring outside of normal office hours and in various locations. The GHGH Impact Lead I’s primary work location is the Boys & Girls Club administrative office in Salinas.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster a safe, positive, fun and impactful GHGH Program where participants acquire a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence.
  • Responsible for providing direct service programming off-site (i.e. schools, community centers, etc...). Manage attendance levels i.e 25 active enrolled.
  • Support GLN lessons, summit, advocacy projects, and workshop series.
  • Ensure a culture of high expectations & recognition of youth for their achievements.
  • Achieve weekly, monthly & quarterly goals with clearly defined & measurable program outcome/objectives and report benchmarks to GHGH Coordinator.
  • Report GHGH program & Clubhouse safety, transportation, maintenance, technology and facility issues so they can be promptly addressed by Operations
  • Maintain a clean, neat and properly equipped work space.
  • Contribute to social media efforts by working with the GHGH Coordinator & Marketing Director on strategies to build awareness of the GHGH program; recruit new members; and ensure all media communication is on-brand.
  • Imbue BGCMC’s solid reputation as a respected, trusted & impactful youth development agency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with fulfilling the primary function of position.
Requirements:

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Must be able to bend, lift, and stretch.
  • Ability to push a hand-truck/dolly with a load of up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to access items on shelves and in files located 0 to 60 inches above the floor.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation to drive to program sites.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Tech savvy, including proficiency in utilizing Google Workplace and Internet.
  • Familiarity with the field of girls’ health and education.
  • Minimum of one year experience supporting youth to succeed.

Highly desirable qualifications:

  • Oral and written Spanish fluency
  • Connectedness and experience working and living in Monterey County communities, especially those located in the Salinas Valley and South County.
  • Experience as a youth development professional in the Boys & Girls Club Movement.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification

Additional requirements:

  • MUST present proof of COVID-19 vaccination (if eligible for medical exemption, please communicate directly with BGCMC’s Human Resources team) prior to the start date.

Compensation: Pay rate begins at $ 17.00 to $17.87 per hour, and is based on experience. Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval. This position is classified as non-exempt and as such is eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
